Valentine’s Day & Singleness

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow & I’m single, while pretty much all my friends have some significant person to spend it with, but I have a few thoughts on Valentine’s Day & being single. I have no problem being single, in fact I’m loving the single life. I in no way am sitting here complaining. I have a lot of life to live & plenty of time to find the right person. So here’s what I think about Valentine’s Day. It’s a day to celebrate the people you love in your life. Well, I don’t have to be in a relationship to celebrate love. I’m looking at Valentine’s Day differently this year. I can love on myself, my friends, my family, the people who have poured into my life, & God. If Valentine’s Day is truly a day of celebrating love, I don’t have to be in a relationship in order to celebrate that. I can take the day & thank all those people for loving me at my worst, I can even spoil myself if I want to. I can even spend time loving on God, because He has lavished the ultimate gift of love upon me. So to all you singles out there, don’t look at this day in a romantic, I’m all alone kind of way. Look at it as a day to celebrate all the love you’re so lucky to have in your life. Spend some time tomorrow thanking & loving on another person, even if it’s a stranger. Take time to be kind & share the love of God, because ultimately His love is the only love we’ll ever need.

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7

  1. Excellent thoughts, Alisha! So many people focus on how lonely Valentines Day can be…but you can change your perspective and not be or feel alone at all! Thanks for sharing and I truly hope many “hear” it. Coming from someone who had many years with the wrong mindset, I wish I had this when I was in my 20’s. 🙂
