Going Against The Norm

Being in college I always get asked what I’m majoring in, my response is that I’m working towards my Theology degree. (Some of you may not know that I’m in Bible School full time.) Now the responses I get are varied but normally are along the lines of & what are you going to do with that? I then respond with what I want to do which is working with marginalized women. They then begin to offer alternative schooling ideas like maybe going in for social work, psychology, etc. Now I could very easily get discouraged & frustrated but here’s the thing, I’m doing what God has asked me to do. Sometimes in life God asks us to do things that are different from the norm & people just won’t understand what He’s doing, or even what we’re doing & you know what, that’s okay.  On this journey called life at some point you’re going to be asked to do something that doesn’t make sense to other people what matters is that you’re obedient. No matter what people say to you don’t let it discourage you keep going after what God has asked of you. There’s a verse in the Bible where it talks about people not being able to see or understand what He’s doing because they’re not in the Spirit.(1 Corinthians 2:14) Don’t let the haters bring you down keep doing what you’re doing, when it’s all said & done you’ll be happy you did it & you never know how those naysayers might be impacted.

You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.

Deuteronomy 14:2

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10

“Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”

Esther 4:14b

  1. This is so true thank you!!! One of the things I admire most about my mother is how she lives this out completely. She has always gotten flack from her family about how she lives and she has never let it bother her. She is an all in Christ follower whereas her family while they believe, think more like a fan. They don’t understand her way of live and mine aswell. It’s nice to be able to relate to others sometimes which is were our amazing church family comes in. We are all in together!! Keep living in Christ.
