When Life Gets Hard

Having been a Christian for a long time I’ve seen a lot of things happen within the church. Being a young 20 something one of the things that has stuck out to me is how many young people walk away. It’s been hard to see friends that I’ve grown up with choose to walk away and go down a path I never thought they would. Let’s be honest life get’s hard. Bad things happen to good people and life can be a really frustrating journey but one thing I’ve learned by watching some of these people walk away and knowing their reasons as to why I’ve learned a huge lesson. My faith has to be in God, my faith cannot be found in my leaders, in my family, or in my friends. My faith has to be found in God and God alone. People will fail us it’s inevitable and we weren’t promised that life would always be easy and enjoyable, but we’ve been promised that we would have someone that would never leave us. When life gets hard and things fall apart I know that in the end, it’ll all work out because my faith is in God.

In Romans 8:28 it says, And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

We just have to trust in Him and focus our eyes on Him during those tough situations. Don’t allow your eyes to be on the situation and the people who failed you keep your eyes on Jesus. Stand on the promises in His word and I can guarantee you, you’ll make it to the other side. We have hope because of Jesus and when things get hard we seem to forget that because we’re so focused on what’s going on around us. Let’s remember to keep our faith in the Lord and keep our gaze fixed on Him.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in people.
Psalm 118:8

  1. You are so right! There is something pivital about the twenties and church. I saw it when I was in my twenties too. It’s that moment of truth where young people decide who they are and what they believe. If our faith and trust are not in God alone, we will walk away every time. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Amen!!! Trusting is the key!!! And the Lord is in those hearts! Praying they shall come back to their senses and that the Holy Spirit will draw them back!
